The purpose of the discipline “Propedeutics of Internal Diseases” is to master the fundamentals of physical examination of healthy individuals and patients with various diseases, as well as to study and identify the main clinical symptoms and syndromes associated with different internal organ diseases.

Objectives of the discipline:

  • to teach the fundamentals of physical examination techniques for healthy individuals and patients with diseases of various organs and systems (including patient interviewing, inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation, blood pressure measurement, pulse examination, etc.), as well as the identification of objective diagnostic signs of disease;

  • to familiarize students with and train them in laboratory and instrumental examination methods for patients with various clinical syndromes and pathologies of different organs and body systems, including interpretation of the obtained results;

  • to teach practical skills in performing certain medical procedures and additional examination methods that play a vital role in a physician’s practical activity;

  • to contribute to the development of clinical thinking and readiness to interpret information obtained during patient examination in order to establish a clinical diagnosis.

Educational and Methodological Complex (EMC) “Propedeutics of Internal Diseases”

Syllabus

The purpose of the discipline “Internal Diseases” is to provide students with theoretical knowledge of etiology, pathogenesis, the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD), clinical manifestations, pathological symptoms and syndromes, modern diagnostic methods, and standards of treatment for the most common diseases of internal organs in the adult population occurring in their typical forms. The discipline also aims to develop skills in the use of differential diagnostic methods within the studied nosological forms, methods of emergency care for life-threatening conditions in internal medicine, rules for medical documentation, fundamentals of studying and collecting scientific medical information, and methods of scientific research, as well as to form a comprehensive understanding of disease.

Objectives of the discipline:

  • to form a comprehensive understanding of disease;

  • to master the skills of pathophysiological analysis of clinical syndromes and the justification of pathogenetically based methods (principles) of diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention among adults and children, taking into account their age and gender characteristics;

  • to master practical skills, diagnostic methods, and treatment tactics in providing medical care for emergency conditions;

  • to promote the development of competence in analyzing the results of one’s own professional activity in order to prevent medical errors, while understanding disciplinary, administrative, civil, and criminal liability.

Syllabus

The purpose of the discipline is:

  • to form a comprehensive understanding of radiological diagnostic methods in clinical practice and to promote a healthy lifestyle;

  • to study the methods and techniques of instrumental diagnostic imaging for their effective use in the diagnosis and treatment of various pathological conditions;

  • to study the radiological symptoms and syndromes of diseases and injuries affecting different body systems;

  • to study modern technologies of “radiological diagnostics and therapy” based on scientific and innovative activities.

Objectives of the discipline:

  • to provide knowledge on the preparation of medical documentation in the form of examination reports using various methods of medical imaging;

  • to promote the development of differential diagnostic skills in the study of medical images representing various syndromes of diseases of human organs and systems;

  • to develop skills in studying specialized medical educational and scientific literature, including the analysis of diagrams and illustrations reflecting various radiological signs of pathological changes in a patient’s body;

  • to educate medical students in accordance with the traditional principles of humanism, respectful and careful treatment of patients, taking into account ethics and deontology, and considering the specific features of each disease in every individual case;

  • to develop communication skills with colleagues and the staff of radiology departments.

  • to teach practical skills in organizing preventive and therapeutic healthcare services for the population in outpatient settings, namely the basic principles of organizing medical and preventive care for the general population in polyclinic conditions;

  • to develop the ability to navigate, interpret, and correctly assess various clinical situations, including emergency therapeutic conditions, and to manage them in outpatient-clinic settings;

  • to develop personal qualities and professional skills necessary for a general practitioner working in outpatient and polyclinic environments;

Syllabus

The purpose of studying the discipline “Family Medicine” is to teach practical skills, diagnostic methods, and treatment tactics, as well as the prevention of the most common diseases regardless of age, gender, and nature of the disease at the level of primary healthcare. It also includes providing emergency medical care, forming diagnostic decisions based on incomplete and limited information for establishing a clinical diagnosis and selecting appropriate treatment tactics, and applying modern socio-hygienic methods of data collection and medical-statistical analysis of child health indicators.

Objectives of the discipline:

  • to promote the application of modern socio-hygienic methods of data collection and medical-statistical analysis of child population health indicators;

  • to develop skills in educating adults and children on proper medical behavior, hygienic practices, and the formation of healthy lifestyle habits;

  • to form an understanding of maintaining regulatory medical documentation accepted in the healthcare system of the Kyrgyz Republic;

Syllabus

The purpose of mastering the discipline “Gerontology” is to acquire in-depth theoretical knowledge in gerontology, develop professional clinical skills in patient examination, diagnostic decision-making, and individualized therapy for elderly patients, as well as obtain the competencies and practical skills necessary for professional activity in both clinical and research fields.

Objectives of the discipline “Gerontology”:

  • to study theories of aging, including biological, social, and psychological aspects, and to understand the mechanisms and causes of age-related changes in the human body;

  • to study physiological changes by training students to identify and assess age-related changes in body organs and systems, including the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, endocrine systems, and the musculoskeletal system, among others;

  • to study the principles of pharmacotherapy in the elderly by developing skills in rational drug therapy, taking into account age-related changes in drug metabolism and preventing polypharmacy;

  • to train students in providing palliative care for elderly patients, including improving quality of life in incurable diseases and terminal conditions;

  • to develop skills in disease prevention by promoting knowledge of age-related disease prevention and active longevity, including healthy lifestyle promotion, proper nutrition, and physical activity among elderly people;

  • to deepen theoretical knowledge in gerontology and advances in medicine and pharmacy in order to identify opportunities and methods for their application in scientific research;

  • to develop ethical aspects of elderly care, including understanding ethical issues in working with older patients such as quality of life, autonomy, decision-making, and respect for patient rights.
