Health Day

Department of Public Health, ISM IUK, organized World Health Day on April 7, 2025 – a day that reminds us of the importance of caring for ourselves, our loved ones, and society as a whole.
This observance was established to commemorate the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948, and each year it highlights pressing global challenges in medicine and well-being.
This year’s theme – “Healthy Beginnings for a Prosperous Future” – calls on us to pay special attention to maternal and newborn health. According to WHO, hundreds of thousands of women and children face preventable complications each year, and our mission – as current and future healthcare professionals – is to contribute to solving this problem.
We are a medical community. Our mission is not only to treat but also to prevent diseases, promote healthy lifestyles, and create conditions for a long and high-quality life for every individual.
As part of the event, sports and wellness activities were held in three disciplines: mini-football, relay races, and tug-of-war. Additionally, workshops on healthy living, physical activity, and group fitness dances were conducted.
All participants actively engaged in the sporting events. The winners were awarded cups, medals, and cash prizes.
The Department of Public Health, ISM IUK, reminds everyone that “Health is not merely the absence of disease but also physical, mental, and social well-being.” World Health Day is an excellent opportunity to reflect:
• Are we active enough? (WHO recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week.)
• Are we eating right? (A minimum of 400g of fruits and vegetables per day!)
• Can we manage stress effectively? (7–8 hours of sleep and a work-life balance are essential!)
Let’s not just participate in such events but also inspire each other to adopt a mindful approach to health. After all, each of us is a role model for our patients, friends, and families.
OUR HEALTH IS IN OUR HANDS.
IF WE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR INDIVIDUAL HEALTH, EACH OF US CAN MAKE A HUGE CONTRIBUTION TO PUBLIC HEALTH.
IF YOU ARE HEALTHY – I AM HEALTHY – THEN OUR WHOLE SOCIETY WILL BE HEALTHY!
