On 12 December 2023, candidate of chemical sciences, acting assistant professor of the department “Fundamental Disciplines” of ISM IUK Kadyrkulova S.O. gave a guest lecture on “Carbohydrate metabolism” at the Graduate School of Medicine of Adam University for students of the Faculty of Medicine.
From the lecture students learned about the processes of carbohydrate assimilation in the body; their breakdown with the formation of intermediate and final products, as well as new formation from compounds that are not carbohydrates, or the transformation of simple carbohydrates into more complex ones.
Special attention was paid to the analysis of blood glucose level changes, the mechanism of its hormonal regulation, and pathological manifestations of glucose metabolism disorders: diabetes mellitus, and starvation.
At the end of the lecture, the students were able to ask questions and receive detailed answers.
The faculty of the Department of Biomedical Disciplines and students of Adam University thanked Kadyrkulova S.O. for the interesting lecture and presented a letter of thanks.
